Switzerland is one of the most beautiful countries with astonishing nature everywhere you look.
TOP 3 REASONS TO VISIT SWITZERLANd:
Switzerland is a famous destination for its breathtaking landscapes, especially mountains, greenery, and lakes. I can confirm that Switzerland has all of this and then some. I was incredibly impressed by the nature in Switzerland, and I highly recommend adding this country to your bucket list.
LAKES AND NATURAL LANDSCAPES:
Lakes with tall snow-capped mountains in the background? Say less! These landscapes were some of my favorites in Europe.
Pro Tip- stay by a lake! There are so many towns that border lakes in Switzerland. I personally stayed in Lake Lausanne and it was gorgeous there.
Here’s some more information about the area of Lake Lausanne:
It’s on Lake Geneva and is a short train ride from the Geneva airport
The views in this city are incredible!! Especially when coming in and leaving on the train.
The city of Lausanne is actually known for its Olympic Muesum!
ADORABLE TOWNS:
Switzerland is known for its quaint and adorable towns often surrounded by nature.
You must add Bern to your list as a day trip, no matter where you are staying in Switzerland! Bern is the capital city of the country and was the most adorable town on the river. My favorite day in Switzerland was the day I explored around Bern.
Here are some fun things to do in Bern:
Spend an afternoon at the Rosengarten which has amazing views of the city and a great restaurant and park up there
Stop by Albert Einstein’s former residence and have breakfast in the cafe beneath it (best croissant I have ever had!)
Visit the bear park. Since the bear is the symbol of Bern, this was a really unique thing to do that I really enjoyed!
Stroll through Old town
Overall, no matter where you stay on your Switzerland vacation, visit Bern!
BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT:
The summer months are for sure the best time to visit Switzerland as it is the warmest and the best weather for hiking. However
I personally visited in April, and it was still very cold and rainy as well.
TIPS + TRICKS:
1) The weather can be unpredictable! So bring a rain jacket and umbrella in case.
2) The food is extremely expensive in Switzerland.. just warning you!
3) You must try swiss chocolate and get cheese fondue, so delicious.
4) My favorite souvenir I got in Switzerland was actually a Starbucks Switzerland mug, it’s adorable! So if you come across a Starbucks, you must look for the mug.
5) Trains are the most reliable form of transportation in Switzerland, but warning.. they are also pricey!
