Sweden is an incredibly unique country with so many fun things to do!

wHY YOU SHOULD VISIT stockholm, SWEDEN:

Stockholm, Sweden was one of my absolute favorite destinations in all of Europe. This could be due to the fact that I’m Swedish and it has always been a dream of mine to go, but it exceeded all of my expectations and then some! Here are my top reasons below why it is such an incredible place to travel to.

amazing food:

The food in Sweden was some of my absolute favorites in Europe. Some top foods you must try when visiting Sweden are:

  • Swedish Meatballs with mashed potatoes and lingonberries

  • Princess Cake

  • Swedish Cinnamon Bun

  • Swedish Vanilla Ice cream

culture:

I happened to be in Sweden during their culture week, where they open up the museums and different attractions of Stockholm for free for residents and tourists alike.

Here are some of the top cultural sights to see in Stockholm that were my personal favorites:

  • Vasa Museum

  • Drottningholm Palace

  • Stockholm Old Town

  • Skansen (my favorite thing I did in Stockholm!)

nature everywhere:

Wanting to go to Sweden my entire life, I never realized how much nature there was in this country. Stockholm is surrounded by over 30,000 islands which is AMAZING. The city of Stockholm had so many parks, and was surrounded by water on all sides. Even one of the metro systems is a boat that takes you to the other side of the water. If you’re a nature lover, you must visit Sweden for the most gorgeous natural landscapes.

BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT:

You may be wondering what the best time of year to visit Stockholm, Sweden is?

June and July- Sweden is a very cold country, so make sure you plan your vacation in the summer months if you aren’t someone who likes the cold! I went at the end of April when I visited and it was still very cold, definitely not something I couldn’t handle but very windy and I had to layer my clothes a lot.

TIPS + TRICKS when visiting sweden:

1) Bring layers! The temperature can really change when you are there, especially at night.

2) Bring sunglasses for a boat tour.

3) Make sure to plan out your days- there is so much to do in Stockholm especially, so make a schedule for your trip.

4) Seek out traditional Swedish food- it can be a bit hard to find in the big, international city of Stockholm, but you can definitely find it if you look hard enough!

5) Find a nice place on the water to watch sunset every night— the sunsets are stunning in Sweden.
